FIDI has a helpful customs guide for moving to Oman. You will require a clear copy of your passport and visa/residence permit, as well as the page where the Oman visa will be stamped. A full inventory list will need to be submitted in English, as well as an authorisation letter which allows the Destination Agent to clear shipments. Please note that regular customs clearance for sea takes six to seven working days, and four to five working days for air. Customs remains closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
It is important to note the list of prohibited items listed in the FIDI customs guide. Some of these include items made with ivory or any endangered species, drones, e-cigarettes, and wireless and communication equipment such as telescopes and walkie-talkies. If you plan on bringing your pets along, you will need to obtain an import permit from the Minister of Agriculture before the shipping process commences. Also required from you are the Health and Vaccination certificates which can be issued from the health authorities from your country of origin, and an authorisation letter from you to clear the pets on your behalf. Please note that pets younger than four months old will not be permitted to accompany you.
